Located at the natural border between Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay, the Dark & Bright Cave (Hang Tối – Hang Sáng) is a fascinating natural limestone formation sculpted over thousands of years by wind and water.
The cave is divided into two parts:
• The Bright Cave (Hang Sáng) – where sunlight filters through the arch, illuminating emerald-green waters and limestone reflections that sparkle like crystals. • The Dark Cave (Hang Tối) – a mysterious passage with calm waters, ideal for quiet moments of discovery.
Visitors can only explore the cave by kayak or small bamboo boat, paddling through a waterway about 100 meters long under the stone arch. The experience is both peaceful and mesmerizing — when sunlight hits the surface of the water, it creates a shimmering mirror of nature’s artistry.
The best time to visit is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, when the tide level allows safe passage through the cave. This is one of Lan Ha Bay’s must-see highlights for anyone seeking the harmony of light, water, and stone.
